Silke studied Chemistry at the University of Hamburg (Germany) and got her PhD at ETH Zurich in Food Science. She joined Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG), where she first headed an analytical lab (surface water and biological material) for 9 years, followed by a year in the staff of the directorate being responsible for marketing activities. In 2001 Silke joined ETH transfer as technology transfer manager. After further education in Intellectual Property law she is now heading the group "Patents and Licenses" at ETH transfer.
In 2008 she received the CAS for General Management of the Institute for Strategy and Business Economics of the University of Zurich.
She is a member of swiTT (Swiss Technology Transfer Association), LES (Licensing Executive Society), GDCh (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker) and SGC (Schweizerische Chemische Gesellschaft).
