Matthias studied electrical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (DE), participating in a joined European scheme that allowed him to spend one exchange year at the ESIEE, Paris (FR) and his diploma year at the University of Southampton (GB). He then obtained his PhD from the ETH Zurich. He worked several years in an IT company as project manager, focussing on a strong client relationship. In March 2005, he joined ETH transfer as technology transfer manager and is now managing the spin-off program at the ETH Zurich. Matthias completed the MTE (Mastering Technology Enterprise) program at the IMD, Lausanne.
He is a member of swiTT (Swiss Technology Transfer Association), LES (Licensing Executive Society) and AUTM (The Association of University Technology Managers).
